Once production is complete on immersions (virtual reality movies), the question then becomes, “How will the public view these immersions?” At Triple-i, we think that’s an outstanding question. That’s why we have spent some real time developing some real answers. We have involved theatre consultants; inventors, virtual reality experts, designers, architects, film producers and directors, in our quest to rethink how immersive entertainment is delivered. Downloading to home HMDs is the no-brainer solution/At Triple-i, we prefer to dig deeper, and look at the need for simultaneous shared theatrical experiences. Here is a very early conceptual piece. Very Bauhaus. Function over form and all that. “Classroom” style. This is one concept of many. We have more. Some seem to make sense. Some may not seem to make sense — at first. But then, the complex task to reimagine the several thousand-year concept of theatre has its challenges. No more screens, projectors, no need for a proscenium, viewers can face any direction, etc. See what we mean? Not so easy, huh?
